The Global Commodity Manager is responsible to develop, implement, and maintain a commodity inventory strategy that support Comet’s Global Supply Chain. He/she will oversee the purchase of commodities, liaise with suppliers to ensure raw material and part stability, evaluate market conditions in order to maintain optimum inventory level and control costs. He/she will evaluate, recommend suppliers and manage ongoing relationships with suppliers.



  • Lead and manage global commodity strategies, development, execution and sourcing decision.
  • Maintain stakeholder communication and alignment on commodity strategies. Responsible for commodity cost model, RFQ, price setting and commercial contract.
  • Negotiate favorable prices and terms of purchase to maximize best commodity sourcing practices.
  • Build and manage overall supplier relationships with focus on supply risk management, contract risk management and cost management.
  • Drive supplier performance and improvements through Score Card cadence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and assess supplier capabilities. Set targets and develop action plan to drive continuous improvement in lowering total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Serve as key senior point of contact and point of escalation to resolve supplier disputes and any commodity-related issues.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of sourcing commodity and industry. Study market trends and identify potential risks when sourcing and procuring commodities.
  • Engage Engineering and Supplier for Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE).
  • Ensure supply chain readiness for NPI/product transfer at R&D or receiving site.
  • Evaluate, select, and recommend new suppliers to management.
  • Global deployment of best practices and support as One Comet.
  • Ensure suppliers manufacturing, inventory, capacity plan and technology alignment.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management / Economics, or  its equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in commodity management, including price negotiation, basic finance, tools and supplier development
  • Strong business acumen and excellent knowledge of commodity markets.
  • Experience in mechanical part manufacturing, preferably sheet metals, wire harness, cable assembly process.
