COMET Technologies USA is the headquarters as well as an important sales, distribution and service hub for the COMET Group. From this modern facility, we provide our innovative COMET X-ray and ebeam source technology and portable X-ray systems to leading manufacturers, research labs and government sites within North and South America.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Communicates engineering materials, and manufacturing requirements to NPI buyers.
  • Addresses outsourcing decisions with NPI engineers by performing make versus buy analysis.
  • Coordinates with NPI buyer and Project Management demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
  • Collaborates with engineering team to interpret engineering requirements.
  • Creates, releases and updates NPI materials strategy.
  • Negotiate and implement Supplier contracts such as Global Supplier Agreement, Inventory Stocking Agreement, Long-lead & End of Life Liability Agreements.
  • Conducts supplier price and delivery negotiations
  • Utilizes the preferred supplier selection and assessment process when selecting suppliers.
  • Supports SQE supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts.
  • Monitors supplier performance and conducts QBRs
  • Executes commercialization with the HVM sites
  • Meets cost objectives and helps SQE to resolves quality issues.
  • Responsible for tracking PPV
  • Works with Purchasing and Planning teams to identify and facilitate early procurement of critical and long-lead parts
  • Actively mediates and partners with quality and engineering teams to resolve supplier quality issues for assigned product groups. Escalate issues when necessary.
  • Working together with the geographically located purchasing teams to assess supplier capability, including regional capabilities, overall capacity, ability to support rapid prototyping (NPI), ability to support volume manufacturing, and vertical integration to support sustainable sourcing decisions.
  • Identify make vs. buy opportunities and drive alignment/decision with key stakeholders
  • Coordinates smooth transition from Prototype to Production supply base
  • Negotiate commercial and exclusivity agreements at a part level
  • Analyze BOM cost to identify cost reduction opportunities through design, content reduction/should cost and commercial means; track and ensure timely implementation of such opportunities.
  • Facilitate early engagement between supplier and Comet NPI Engineering team to drive manufacturability, repeatability, cost and lead time improvements
  • Develop lead time mitigation strategies
  • Work with suppliers to identify their ability to expand capacity to support volume manufacturing
  • Develop and leverage process maps for critical parts to streamline the supply chain and understand and mitigate capacity constraints
  • Drive dual sourcing activities to mitigate supply risk
  • Influence others across a matrix of functions throughout the program/project process
  • Report sourcing cost, lead time reduction, capacity initiatives to key stakeholders, management and internal customers

 

Qualifications:

 

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrates depth and/or breadth of expertise in Supply Chain Management and Procurement
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
  • Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives; work is guided by functional policies
  • Excellent communication and solid decision-making skills
  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
